Paddle Expedition Planning Guide & Packing List

Over the last 10 years I’ve conducted many solo and group paddle expeditions, including undertaking a 460km descent of the Burnett River from source to sea. I’ve also done 100km walk/paddles over a single weekend.
My approach to packing has been to be as light as possible whilst still squeezing in a luxury or two – as you don’t have to carry it, it’s just floating on your watercraft so a little extra weight is okay!
My approach to planning has been – plan enough to be safe, without over planning. What I mean by that is in many cases by planning down to the last detail reduces the fun – as their will be no unknowns and you will have no flexibility if you want to vary your route once you start.
Keep it simple, plan enough to be safe, include the ability to be flexible in your plans so if during the route you find a little side stream to explore you can.
This guide will help you do that.
