FAQs

Can you take private groups?

Yes if you have a group of friends, I can take a private group – minimum of 4 required.

How do I get back to my car at the start point?

The guide will leave their car at the end and give everyone a lift back to their car.

What is the fitness requirement?

Moderate fitness is required. You need to be able to carry one end of an empty canoe for a short distance across uneven ground. The distance itself to paddle is pretty cruisy, the energetic bit is – depending upon water levels – the couple of shallow bits where you may have to get out and drag/carry your kayak or run small rapids. You will be walking through and across shallow water and rough rocky ground for a short while so depending upon your balance, strength and ankles you may have to be careful at those points. But because we are not rushing you can take your time.

I think the distance we do is perfect – they are a few shallow and windy bits which slows us down and it also allows us to make camp early and relax, soak it all up before cooking tea and going to bed.

Are we carrying our stuff on the SUP/Canoe/Kayak also, what happens if it gets wet, and what happens if we get wet?

Yes you will be carrying all your equipment. Your stuff will be packed in dry bags so it won’t get wet if you do capsize, which is unlikely anyway.

If you fall in you will get wet – so wear your bathers and sun protection ie long shirt and possible pants over the top. It is warm in Queensland during the day so you’ll dry quickly and shouldn’t get to cold if you do fall in (which is unlikely anyway our kayaks are stable.) You then bring a spare clothes to change into dry clothes when we get to camp.

Why do you call them “expeditions” and not “tours” – what’s the difference?

These are more adventurous than a tour. You will be carrying/dragging canoes, camping with no facilities, and will need to work as part of a team to make the the groups gets their kayaks across the shallow bits and pitch in to carry all the gear, prepare meals etc.
